Three students from the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro competed in the Miss Massachusetts 2008 Pageant this past weekend at the Bristol Community College in Fall River. Molly Whalen of Middleboro (Miss Southcoast 2008) won Most Talented Non-Finalist and a $200.00 scholarship, Aly Levy of Bridgewater (Miss Bristol County 2008) won the Miss America State Academic Scholarship Award and a $1000.00 scholarship, and Chantelle Pavao of New Bedford (Miss Fall River 2008) won the Miss America State Community Service Award and a $1000.00 scholarship.

at the Miss Massachusetts Pageant
in Fall River. Miss Massachusetts

Miss Brunelle for the award for 
her community service and
humanitarian efforts.

On May 22, 1995, First Lady Hillary
Rodham Clinton received The Miss America Organization's Annual
'Woman of Achievement Award' at
the White House.  The award was presented to Mrs. Clinton by Miss
America 1995 Heather Whitestone
the first Miss America with a disability.

The award was previously given annually by the Miss America Organization to a woman who demonstrated an exemplary commitment to social causes and issues. Each year the reigning Miss Massachusetts recognizes a woman of achievement from Massachusetts for the prestigious award.
